Eszter Munkácsy was born into a family of musicians.
So it was of little wonder, that from an unusually young age, her
attention and love for music grew.
She first stepped on stage at the age of twelve to sing with her
father's band and soon after began performing beside her father throughout Hungary and across Europe as a duo.
It wasn't long before Eszter's talent was recognized by artistic
director Mits Gergő of the Kodolányi János Academy, who invited her as a singer to join an orchestra representing their school on a tour through Italy and offered her a scholarship to attend Dr.
Laushmann Gyula's School of Jazz Music.
After graduation she was accepted into the Jazz department of Liszt
Ferenc Academy of Music and received an invitation to participate in a talent search at the Palace of Arts (Müpa) as a guest of Rafael Márió. Thanks to a scholarship won as a jazz department student,
she was able to study for a year at the Music Academy of Zurich. In that same year, she was also placed in the top nine best voices of the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition. In the year that
followed, she received her Bachelors degree in music from Liszt Ferenc Academy and has since continued studying toward her Masters.
In 2013 she formed her own quartet and performed in Debreceni Jazz
Napok, Opus Jazz Club, Budapest Jazz Club, Művészetek Palotája Jazz Showcase and the Mehrspur club of Zurich. Recently, Eszter's quartet received an invitation to participate in a Spring 2016 concert
tour making appearances in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Eszter has performed concerts and made recordings with numerous
great talents of the Hungarian Jazz scene and the best of her generation of musicians. In addition to her jazz quartet, she was also a steady member of the Tárkány Művek and the Barrio Latino
